Depths

You’ll say you want my lips
And sure enough, they’re quite adept
You’ll say you want my words
Because you read them and you wept

You’ll say you want my fingertips
And every brief caress
You’ll say you want my mind
Because the way that I assess

You’ll say you want my focus
And you’ll never want it less
You’ll say you want the truth
And all the feelings I confess

You’ll want so very much of me
But dear, I must digress
You cannot have my surface
If you do not want my depths

  1. It’s so sad to be so willing and able, to be so vulnerable with someone, anyone and to find that none exist who can or want to sit at your deep-seared, inner table
