Alameda

They came from afar
In couples and crowds
Octouples in cars
Some cloaked under shrouds

By carriage, I dare say
Not one would disparage
The spectacle soon to display

She came from afar
From a place by the sea
A tiara bizarre
Made of flowers and tea

So bounding with wishes
And fairies resounding
A tune of rejoice for their mistress

He came from the hills
From a tower of lime
With the power to kill
Boredom, logic, and time

Of status, the wizard
His head in the stratus
His steed a magnificent lizard

They met for a drink
In an evening sublime
Penning promise in ink
As if partners in crime

So apparently smitten
That quick and uncaringly
Saw both their vows swiftly written

The people came running
Afraid of the wiz
Plus the woman was stunning
(And yes, she still is)

And grand was the wedding
They left hand in hand
With a plan to do way more than petting

And lo, as they left
The crowd did applaud
Ans the wiz, with a breath
Turned them all into frogs

And chuckled did she
And they bumped more than knuckles
That evening with sounds of such glee

And such is the tale
Of a woman divine
A wizard, a spell
And a wedding so fine

An ending that’s happy
With bliss still ascending
(Cuz fairytales always end sappy)

My good friend, and fellow blogger, is leaving WordPress and requested that I write a poem about, and I quote, “A wondrous, witty ditty about my wedding to a wizard.”This is the end result of that effort.

This is the end result of that effort.
