Wait

There was time
Or so I thought
If only for a time
But there again
I dared depend
Upon a mind
Forever caught
In fragile rhymes

So I wait
And hold my tongue
As if it were a weight
And linger on
My fingers drawn
Advancing late
To better rungs
I hesitate

Time has passed
And won’t return
From my disheveled past
It has dissolved
At last, resolved
And far too fast
For me to learn
How not to crash
